A Stockholm Syndrome

Galleri Monitor, Gothenburg (2014)

The work A Sockholm Syndrome takes the gallery space and its structures, rules and frameworks, physical as well as institutional, as its point of departure. A symbolic act is performed working with and against the given space of the gallery. By making an absurd underlining of its “importence” the act engages in a kind of complicit critique of institutional hierarchies. The repetitious doing becomes a mantra that re-performs the artists dependency to the gallery space over and over again and every gesture trying to critizise the “institution” become more and more impotent.
